Boeing selects Rockwell Collins for visual system upgrade for ATIL AH-Mk1 Apache simulator
ORLANDO, Fla. (November 26, 2007) - Rockwell Collins announced today that Boeing has selected Rockwell Collins to upgrade three AH-Mk1 Apache Field Deployable
Simulators and one AH-Mk1 Apache Full Mission Simulator for the Aviation Training International Limited (ATIL) AH-Mk1 Apache
training system in the United Kingdom. The visual systems upgrade will include four Rockwell Collins EPX™-5000 image generators,
eight 9-channel large field of view display systems and enhancements of the existing training databases.
"This complete visual system upgrade will provide our customer with the enhanced immersive training capability that they need
to deliver advanced training on this key operational platform. EPX™-5000 provides the full suite of military training capabilities
that meet the needs of ATIL and the British Army," said Ken Schreder, vice president and general manager of Simulation & Training
Solutions for Rockwell Collins. "This upgrade program is the direct result of close stakeholder collaboration in order to
provide a cost-effective solution that meets current and future training needs of the military aviator."
The selection of the EPX™-5000 is consistent with other recent awards for tactical helicopter applications where the advanced
capabilities of this image generator can be applied directly to the realistic simulation of this very demanding operational
environment. The EPX™-5000 features outstanding image quality, enhanced rendering technology and industry-leading image quality
that delivers improved pilot cues and object recognition.
