Leon Turner

Leon TurnerLeon was attracted by Rockwell Collins' history of industry leading innovation in radio, navigation, and communications connectivity. During a graduate student intern assignment at the NASA Space Shuttle Flight Program, Leon learned of Collins Radio's key roles in the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo space programs. As a systems engineer working in the Advanced Technology Center at Rockwell Collins, he's finding ways to use mobile ad hoc networking, wireless communications, and signal processing to provide advanced tactical airborne communications. His current work focuses on ways to provided network connectivity between Tactical Aircraft, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), ground forces, and other elements of a military presence.
 
Leon says, "I really feel like I'm preserving and saving people's lives." He sees the need to focus not just on specific technologies, but increasing the integration of those technologies for innovative solutions. "This is critical for reaching our vision of the future." Leon's passion is in going one step further to also find the best ways for people to connect with each other and with technology in order to unlock the ways that technology can serve humanity.
