Engineering Experiences

to engage and motivate students

What will it take to inspire the next generation of engineers and innovators? At Rockwell Collins, we believe the answer lies within our employees and our company's commitment to actively participate in the education process. The purpose of our Engineering Experiences is to engage and motivate students through positive hands-on experiences and personal relationships. We are dedicated to enhancing educational experiences for our youth and helping them become successful and confident in all things.

Engineering Experiences includes programs with nonprofit partners like US FIRST, Engineers Week and the Future City CompetitionProject Lead the Way, the Team America Rocketry Challenge and the Cedar Rapids/Iowa Corridor STEM Initiative. But it also encompasses initiatives created and sustained by Rockwell Collins, such as the K-12 Partnership Program, REACT computer donation center, the Rockwell Collins Retiree Volunteers and more.

In our program context, Engineering means creating, innovating, discovering…all the things students are naturally good at and get excited about. It also describes the core of what Rockwell Collins is all about…creating new approaches to old challenges, designing innovative solutions for our customers and discovering how to apply knowledge in new ways. Although not all our volunteers are engineers by training or education…they are innovators and creators.

The Experiences half of the name is for the hands-on nature of the programs in which we engage…experiences designed to take learning out of the textbooks and into the hands of our students. These activities support classroom learning with interactive experiences and mentoring relationships with our employees and retirees.
